Getting Ready for the 2026-27 School Year

Grade Level Orientations

Join us for Grade Level orientations towards the end of August, dates will be posted as soon as we know them. This is a great time to meet our Admin Team, review JAMS expectations, mission, and vision, and prepare for the school year!

Dates/Times:

• 6th Grade Orientation – Tuesday, September 1
  • 1:30-2:30 p.m. – Student only event
  • 2:30-3:30 p.m. – Parent/Student event with Admin & Staff
• 7th & 8th grade Back to School Orientation – Friday, August 28th
  • 4-5 p.m.
  • Parents must accompany students

School Supplies

We ask that all students come to school daily with a backpack, their SPS issued computer, and other basic school items. Students will receive their SPS computer during the first month of school. We try to keep our school supply list small.

Students should have:

• Backpack
• Headphones/earbuds – should be wired to be used with district laptop
• Pencils/erasers
• Pens (blue or black)
• Pencil pouch
• Composition books (2 lined, 2 graphing)
  • 2 lined books – 1 for Language Arts and 1 for Social Studies classes
  • 2 lined books – 1 for Math and 1 for Science classes
• Either one small binder with dividers OR 6 folders with pockets
• PE Class
  • Shorts, sweatpants, leggings, or other comfortable pants
  • athletic and/or comfortable, closed toe shoes
  • JAMS PE shirt (PE teachers will send out more information)

We will have school supplies available in the main office for any student who needs them. In order to support all students and classrooms we are asking for donations for supplies. $50 is recommended, but pay as you are able. You can donate through the SPS School Pay System. 

We also welcome supply donations in the main office when the school year begins. Most needed supplies are pencils, colored pencils, pencil pouches, glue sticks, band aids, and tissues.

JAMS Athletics

Fall sports start shortly after the school year begins with Co-ed Ultimate Frisbee and Girls Soccer. If your student is interested in trying out for JAMS sports, make sure you have a current copy of their doctor-signed sports physical. All athletic paperwork is online through FinalForms. See our Athletics page for more info.
