Here are some frequently asked questions:
Is my player registered to play? Please review Final Forms and make sure you’ve completed all applicable forms. If parent and child signatures are not yet complete but the physical is cleared they are OK. If they are not cleared and attend tryouts they will be sent to the front office for pick up or further instruction. If you have questions about whether your child is cleared please reach out to our Athletics Coordinator, Yaniv Elkaras (ygelkaras@seattleschools.org).
What occurs at tryouts? Tryouts help the coaches sort players into teams. The coaches have designed tryout activities to assess players based on a simple criteria of throwing, catching, and field sense.
What to bring to tryouts? Players should wear athletic clothing, bring a water bottle, and (if possible) cleats.
How many teams are there? Currently, we anticipate six teams at JAMS and they are broken out by grade. All 6th graders will likely make a team because we have a good balance of gender in that cohort. 7th and 8th grade have fewer girls so we may have a “practice only” team of all boys. We are trying to avoid cuts but won’t know for sure until next week.
What happens if my kid can’t attend tryouts? Please try to make both days but if you only make one that is OK. If you can’t make either please let us know and we will work something out.
When will I be notified what team my child is on? By mid next week after tryouts conclude we will e-mail each player/family to share their team and practice days.
