Jane Addams Middle School Music Club Constitution
CONSTITUTION of the Jane Addams Music Club Adopted February 5, 2016
Article I Name
The name of this organization shall be the Music Club
Article II Purpose
The purposes of this association are:
To plan and conduct fundraising activities in support of the Jane Addams Music program. Also, to plan and execute team building activities across the music classes at Jane Addams Middle School.
Article III Members
All voting members and officers of Music Club must be currently enrolled in Jane Addams Middle School.
Article IV Officers
Section 1. The officers of the club shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. These officers shall perform the duties prescribed by the constitution and bylaws and by the parliamentary authority adopted by the club. Section 2. Officers shall be nominated at the beginning of each school year. Election shall be by secret ballot and the candidates receiving the most votes shall be named to their respective offices. Section 3. Officers shall be elected to serve for one year or until their successors are elected, and their terms of office shall begin at the close of the meeting at which they are elected. Section 4. Vacancies in offices shall be filled by nomination and voting of a quorum of active members. Section 5. Officers shall not be on disciplinary or academic probation. Section 6. Officers shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and not have been on probation for the most recently completed term prior to the term of election.
Article V Meetings
Section 1. Special meetings may be called by the President shall be called upon the written request of the club. The purpose of the meeting shall be stated in the notice and three days’ notice shall be given except in cases of emergency. Section 2. Fifty-one percent (51%) of the members of the club shall constitute a quorum.
Article VI Relationship
JAMS Music Club shall be a club of the Jane Addams Middle School ASB.
Article VII Activities
The club shall hold regular business meetings consisting of planning for and coordinating student driven music program events and activities. Activities may include fundraising for field trips and planning campus events and celebrations.
Article VIII Committees
Section 1. The Executive Committee shall include the officers of the club. They shall supervise affairs of the association between its business meetings, make recommendations to the club and perform other duties as specified in the constitution and bylaws. The Executive Committee shall be subject to the orders of the club and none of its actions shall conflict with actions taken by the association. Section 2.
The Budget sub-committee is responsible for overseeing and developing, with the assistance of adult advisors, the ASB Budget for the coming year.
Article IX Advisor
One or more advisors shall be elected each year in the same manner as the club’s officers. Responsibilities shall be those assigned by the Jane Addams Middle School Activities Coordinator or Principal.
Article X – Parliamentary Authority
The rules contained in the current edition of Roberts Rules of Order Newly Revised shall govern the club in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the constitution, bylaws and special rules of order the association may adopt.
Article XI Amendments
This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the association by two-thirds vote, provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous regular meeting. All amendments must be approved by the Student Activities Coordinator.
