*** NEW! JAMS STAFF APPRECIATION HOLIDAY CELEBRATION ***
On Wednesday, Dec. 13th, we'll celebrate our fabulous JAMS staffers with a cup of cheer and a host of treats to match. Cookies. Brownies & Bars. Truffles or Fudge. A rich fruit-studded egg bread, perhaps? Think of all your winter and holiday time favorites, old family traditions, or a new experiment. Deliver them to the JAMS school office or 2nd floor teacher's lounge by Wednesday morning, 9 AM (Tuesday deliveries are fine too - wrap it well please). Here's the link to sign up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0448A4AB2FA02-winter1
And thank you, thank you for all that you do and have done to support our wonderful, hard-working JAMS staff. Happy & safe holidays.
Contact Sheri Vahey, with any questions.

*** NEW! DATA VERIFICATION SHEETS ***

SPS is rolling out online Data Verification Sheets. Families should have received an e-mail inviting them to review their students' information through your Source account. The e-mail will include instructions on setting up your Source account, should you not already have one. Some notes about this process:
    ● Only ONE parent PER student PER school year may fill out this form. Any other parent who goes to The Source and clicks on the Data Verification Form link will receive an error message.
    ● The e-mail invitation will be sent to the parent designated as the “initial” contact when you registered your child and will be sent to the e-mail address that is current in our database.
    ● Please feel free to contact us in the office if you need assistance navigating this new process.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
*** NEW! MATH CLUB SECOND QUARTER SIGN UPS ***
Are you interested in doing more math and looking for a chance to connect with other students who are equally passionate? The JAMS Math Club is continuing winter quarter. Our focus will be on exploring new topics, working on challenging problems and exploring the hidden beauty of Mathematics. During the course of the year we will also offer opportunities to participate in various contests such as AMC8 and MathCounts.
    Location: Room 109
    Meeting Times: Tuesdays 3:50-4:50 PM
This session will run from Jan. 2-Mar. 27 on regular school days.
Pickup Policy: There is no after school care or bus so parents will be responsible for pickup or kids will get home on their own. Parents will need to sign a permission slip letting kids self release. I will generally stay 10 minutes at the end of each session
Fees: A voluntary $50 donation will help finance materials and contest entry fees.
Spaces: For winter quarter, I'm going to cap at 15 students with a first come/first served registration policy.
Registration: Please complete the registration form at the end of this mail or download a copy from the following link: http://bit.ly/2ycnTty and email it here.

JAMS PTSA SEEKS NOMINATING COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS
The PTSA is looking for a few willing members to serve on our Nominating Committee. The job is short but the impact is great. As a Nominating Committee member, you will be able to help shape our PTSA Board for the 2018/19 school year. The membership will elect the Nominating Committee at our next General Membership meeting on January 18th so, please email Kathy Gerke at jamsptsapresident@gmail.com if you are interested in this job.

JAMS HOLIDAY GIFT CARD DRIVE SPONSORED BY JAMS PTSA
Looking for a way to make a difference this holiday season? Help students in our JAMS community by donating Fred Meyer/Kroger gift cards in $25 increments. All donated cards will be distributed by counselors to students in need of food, hygiene products, clothing, shoes, and other basic necessities. Many of the gift cards will be dispersed in advance of our holiday break but others will be used as needs arise, or for other school breaks throughout the year. Please bring gift cards to the school office through Dec. 15th.
    Warmly,
    Kathy Gerke

    ATTENDANCE ZONE
Invest in an alarm clock and let your child make the choice. Even if they pick out the ugliest, tackiest clock you have ever seen, let it be their decision. Selecting that alarm may help instill a sense of responsibility about getting up on time for school.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
